Located a little more inland, Destin Commons is the community’s best spot to enjoy some retail therapy or catch a movie. Some of the better-known names from their collection of nearly 70 stores consist of Sephora, H&M, and Bath & Body Works, to name a few. Throughout the year, Destin hosts several events to commemorate the seaside lifestyle. The Destin Seafood Festival has been a community favorite since 1978. Serving as the kickoff to the Destin Fishing Rodeo, attendees can sample the best seafood from the region, enjoy music performed by talented musicians, and shop for local goods alongside over 60,000 festival-goers. Throughout the year, locals enjoy close proximity to beautiful, peaceful state parks like the Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and Henderson Beach State Park. Topsail Hill covers 1,640 acres of beautiful coastline while Henderson Beach stretches across 6,000 feet of premier shoreline facing out into the Gulf of Mexico. Here, visitors can swim, boat, paddleboard, lay out and soak up the sun, and enjoy Florida’s pristine weather.
Children living in Destin and Miramar Beach are zoned to excellent schools. Destin High School is one of the newer schools in the region, having just opened for the 2021-2022 school year. The new campus is beautiful, centrally located, equipped with modern technology, and boasts a small student population and low student-teacher ratio.
