Built on concrete pilings pile driven 30 feet into the sand. All the concrete in the house is 5,000 psi concrete compared to the standard 3,000 psi. The slab was engineered with extra rebar and thickness so that in the unlikely event if all the sand is washed out under the house due to hurricane water action, the entire slab would be fully supported by the concrete pilings and the inherent strength of the slab. The first floor CMUs on the east and south sides (most affected by hurricanes and wave action) are filled solid with concrete mortar for exceptional strength. The south side CMUs are a full one foot thick, making them even stronger than the conventional 8" thick blocks.
